Chambray + A Pencil Skirt

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Hi Loves!! As you guys know, I've had so much fun experimenting with the many ways to pair a simple chambray shirt with fun skirts! (here, here, and here) In today's look, I've paired my newest light chambray shirt with a recently thrifted purple pencil skirt. The color of the shirt and skirt complement each other so well! I love chambray shirts because they can make a look more cohesive while making a piece like a pencil skirt a little more casual!

Tartan & Twigs...

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Cheers for humpday! You know, that day of the week that can either be amazing or make you long for the weekend... I really have no cute story behind this look, except that it's colorful and makes me happy that Fall weather is in full effect and that I can finally rock my layers, riding boots, and scarves! BOOM!
Style Guide: When wearing a tartan plaid oxford, try wearing accessories that complement the more understated colors in it, to really make your outfit POP!

Classic Vibrancy...

Monday, October 15, 2012

Happy Monday! How were your weekends? Mine was a little play but mostly work! As I mentioned, last week was my finals week for my grad program and I knocked out my thematic unit plan and a 27 page paper in the last 6 days! (I deserve an adult beverage lol) Anywho, on to today's outfit. When it comes to my personal style, I like to play with color, but I also love classic looks. In this look, I combined my love of the two. So while I kept the base classic, with a black fitted boyfriend blazer, striped top, and jeans. I also added a leopard scarf for warmth and neutrality and added my chartreuse loafers and red bag to add vibrancy. This is pretty much one of my go to staple looks during the Fall, so look forward to seeing variations of it here on the blog!
Style Guide: Just because it's Fall, don't shy away from incorporating vibrancy into your daily looks. Adding a brightly colored bag, shoe, or scarf, (hell all 3!), can really take the simplest outfit to the next level!

Tangerine Dream!

Friday, October 12, 2012

Yayyy!! It's finally Friday!! This has been such a crazy week for me trying to recover from a month of traveling and working on my final projects as well as having computer problems but I am still pushing through! lol. I wanted to share more details on this look from my Fall Lookbook after getting a few emails from readers about it! :) This vintage orange blazer is one of my favorites to rock this Fall and it really brought out the colors of the leaves on my sheer blouse. I decided to dress down this look with jeans, leopard flats, and a grey cross-body bag.
Style Guide:  From the runway to the blogs, deep oranges and tangerine hues are one of  the hottest colors this fall! Try adding pops of this color to your look via clothing or accessories to add some pizzazz to your look.

Purple Pleats...

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Hi Loves!! I hope y'all have had a better day than I have lol. My computer crashed on me last night and it's in the "hospital" recovering for a few days. Great timing, seeing as how this is my finals week for my program. Anywho, it was a gorgeous but cool day yesterday so I decided to wear one of my fave maxi skirts with a buttoned up denim jacket over it for a simple yet chic look! Enjoy the pics! :)
Style Guide: Try buttoning your denim jacket over a maxi skirt or dress for a more cohesive look that enhances your curves!!

Autumn Shade...

Monday, October 8, 2012

Hey loves! I hope all of your weekends were amazing! My sis and I went to Milwaukee to visit our grandparents, aunts, uncle, and cousins. We had such a wonderful time sightseeing and just hanging out with them all. It was such a blessing to see them all, even if just for a short time. I wore this look Saturday (featuring the sweater you saw in my Fall Lookbook here) when my uncle took us downtown to show us around.  When I tell you, it was SO COLD there!! My fingers are pretty much balled up in every pic from it lol. So this week, I will be transitioning my wardrobe to sweaters, boots, scarves, and coats! How do you transition into Fall/Winter?
Style Guide: As the temperature continues to drop, try adding vibrant, thick scarves to your looks, to not only keep you warm but add a pop of color!

Pretty Rocky!

Friday, October 5, 2012

Hey loves! It's Friday and the weekend is here! These pics were taken in Chicago last week by my honey. We really got blessed with some amazing weather during our stay and decided to snap a few pics. The photos don't really capture the terror I experienced while trying to maintain my balance on those slanted rocks lol. I've really enjoyed layering as the temperature begins to drop (as you can see from the post). How are you layering for this fall? Enjoy the pics!
Style Guide: As the temperature drops, try layering your over sized cardigans over oxford shirts for a textured yet warm look.

Fall 2012 Style Lookbook!

Wednesday, October 3, 2012

Hi Loves! As you know, there are tons of fashion trends this season and it's important to find the ones that work best for you and your personal style. Whether you have your fall wardrobe already on lock or you are looking to add some pieces to jazz things up a bit, here are some ideas of Fall trends that I am currently loving! Enjoy!

Look 1: Layers, Polka-dots, & Oxblood

As the temperature begins to drop, layering is the key to keeping warm while looking stylish. In this look, I layered a vintage parka vest over this fun polka-dot sweater and oxblood maxi skirt. The vest complements and pulls together the deep red color of the skirt and the contrasting black and white sweater. This fall, instead of smaller subtler dots, try bigger and bolder dots against a vibrant color!

Look 2: Burnt Orange & Printed Blouses

Burnt orange is a perfect color trend this season. The color matches the leaves on the trees as well as adds a refreshing pop of color that gives a retro feel to the overall look. Finding the perfect shade for you is essential to avoid looking washed out. The blouse should always be a wardrobe staple. This season, they are loose fitted and almost sheer. The printed blouse trend has rolled right over from the Spring into Fall and with the one I'm wearing from Old Navy with leaves on it, under my vintage blazer (also worn here), who can resist snagging one?
Look 3: Military/Army Jacket & Pops of Color
The Military Jacket is perfect for this season. It can be layered over knits, blazers, oxfords, or even maxi skirts. These jackets are not as thick as winter coats but are just right for those breezy evenings out on the town. The military jacket comes in a plethora of cuts and shapes. They also come in several colors and are extremely comfy.  They can also be dressed down with jeans and a pop of color and and animal print like I have pictured below.
Look 4: Chunky Sweaters & Denim
The time is finally here to wear cozy, chunky sweaters! You can pair these over leggings or denim for a daytime look (pictured below) or wear it over a form-fitting dress or skirt as I did in the first look! This creme woven chunky sweater is thrifted and one of my absolute favorites! I layered it over a blue oxford shirt with jeans and gold boat shoes! (this pic was taken mere hours before my honey proposed to me here!)
I hope you have found some inspiration from these four Fall Looks I have put together!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts :o) Stay tuned as I am working on a Part Two!

I am also sharing my style on The Pleated Poppy, Rolled Up Pretty, and Transatlantic Blonde blogs today!

Have a wonderful day!
