Mellow N' Yellow...

Saturday, June 16, 2012

Hi Loves! I just wanted to come post really quickly before the hectic weekend that consists of swimming and thrifting with J and all the studying I have to do, engulfs me! I have been loving the effortless yet chic style of maxi skirts and dresses this year as you can tell from a bunch of my previous posts. So this dress is no different, except for the fact I attempted to conquer a fear of mine in wearing this strapless halter dress. I know you're thinking to yourself, "well why did you buy it?" lol! Well I wanted to get rid of this huge insecurity I've always had with baring my arms when I first bought this nautical maxi dress in Chicago. But that was over three months ago, and I am just now daring to wear it!! I stare at it in my closet all the time, and find a reason to pass it up for something else. Well I'm over it and I figure at this point, they're my arms, and they're not going anywhere so you all get to see them in all their glory lol! I paired my new yellow bubble necklace (I know, I know, I'm the first blogger you've seen with it on! Just humor me! :P), my vintage clutch, and nude sandals to finish the look!

PS. I did a slight blow out on my hair to try something new and for a trim so that's why it's longer, more wavy, and less curly!

Style Tip: Try and let go of whatever your insecurities may be when it comes to wearing certain clothing items, because chances are, you're the only one who notices them...And you'll be missing out on some great options! :o)

Blush & Vintage Floral...

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Happy Humpday Lovies!! For this look, I've decided to wear one of my fave maxis, my blush skirt! You've seen it before in a post here. We were blessed with another gorgeous summer day, so I paired my skirt with my vintage floral button down, rolled up my sleeves and tied the bottom up for a fun flirty look. The blush skirt pulled from the pinks and yellows of my top and complemented each other. I added my cognac sandals and yellow clutch to finish it off. Enjoy the pics!

PS I am participating int eh maxi skirt/dress link up over on Mini Me Style's blog! Head over for some maxi skirt/dress style inspiration!

Style Tip: When wearing a loose flowing item on your bottom half in a breezy material, wearing a more structured shirt on top helps provide balance to the overall look.

'Sister Saturday' Style!!

Monday, June 11, 2012

Happy Monday Loves!
I hope you all had amazing weekends!! This post is actually from the weekend. My sister and I were bored and decided to go for some Fro-Yo and a little shopping! (duh!) It was a gorgeous and HOT day so we decided to snap some pics before leaving. I had to convince (bully lol) her into taking pics! She'd always rather be behind the camera, and I don't know why, because she's so beautiful! We had so much fun and the Fro-Yo was delectable!
I decided to wear an easy cotton shirt dress for a casual day of fun. I paired a red statement necklace, vintage cross body bag, and my cognac peep toe flats to make sure my feet were comfy as we perused the stores. My sister kept it bright and floral with her gorgeous skirt, tank, and statement bag! (is that a real thing? because that gorgeous blue bag totally made a statement! lol) Here are our looks, enjoy!

Before I forget, today and this past Friday, I was featured on two lovely blogs! I was so flattered to be asked and I'm so excited, so please head over to Cherrie Amore's  blog and also My Styled Expression's blog to check out my features! Thanks again ladies! :o)

Neon, Paisley, And a Pop of Red!

Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Happy Humpday Loves! I hope your week has been going well. Today was a relaxed yet productive day for me. I spent the day cleaning, doing homework, and I met my mentor for lunch. She is so sweet, awesome, and accomplished. She is an academic ombud, professor, mental health counselor, and more! Hearing her talk about ALL she does and has done, motivates me to do more and work even harder to make my dreams come true. I was beginning to feel a lack of energy and had become overwhelmed with work and grad school and she totally understood and helped encourage and inspire me. Sometimes you just need that extra push from someone who has been there and done that, ya know? Well here's what I wore to meet her for a yummy seafood lunch on the patio, by the water...Enjoy the pics!

I am also linking up for the NEON challenge over the blog Everybody Every Wear!! Head over there to check out all the fabulous looks!

What do you think of this look? Love to hear from you!!

PSS. Today, I am linking up with Savannah over at Rolled Up Pretty  so head over and check out all the fabulous ladies's looks (try saying the last three words 5x fast lol!)  Have a great rest of your day!

Blazin' Coral...

Monday, June 4, 2012

Happy Monday Loves (what's left of it!),
Soooo...I wore this outfit on Saturday and the sun was blazing and my stubborn self decided, ya know what? no, I'm wearing my vintage linen blazer! Who cares how hot it is? I always see fellow bloggers in cooler climates, rocking their blazers and anoraks and I wanted to too! I just didn't want to accept that it was 85 outside with the sun beaming down on me! Well let's just say immediately after these pics were taken, the blazer was off and I was down to my white t-shirt lol. Do you find yourself having "climate envy" when you read other blogs with seemingly perfect weather or am I just crazy? Lol! Enjoy the pics :)

PS. Today I am linking up with Lindsey over at The Pleated Poppy, so head over and check out all the fabulous looks for some style inspiration!

On a more serious note, some or all of my readers may not know I am Nigerian-American. Both of my parents are Nigerian, Igbo, to be specific and though my extended family in Nigeria, was spared by the grace of God, my prayers  & thoughts are with all of the 146 innocent people who died in the plane crash in Lagos, Nigeria yesterday. May they all rest in perfect peace.

Mint Condition!!!

Friday, June 1, 2012

It's Friday again Loves! Today's outfit is featuring an assortment of pastels from head to toe, but the main focus of this outfit is...can you guess it?? My MINT Skirt!!! I found this beauty while shopping with my sister and I snatched it up so fast, and when I saw it was my size I had to have it!! I'd found a mint green maxi a few months ago while in Chicago, but never saw my size but i knew that if I ever found it again, it was meant to be mine! Lo and behold, there's an even more gorgeous version of it and it's featuring a tiered asymmetrical cut! What can I say? I guess it was meant to be! ;o) Enjoy the pics!!

I'm participating in the Bloggers Do It Better Mint & Coral Challenge over on Pretty Shiny Sparkly! Go check out all the wonderful looks! :)

Polished Style: Essie & OPI!

Hey Loves! Here's another polish post for you! I change my nails pretty frequently, so these pics are not the color I'm currently wearing. But they are featuring some of my favorite polishes...Opi's Charged Up Cherry has been a long time fave of mine since college. It is a creamy blend of pink and coral. And Essie's Mojito Madness was actually a recent impulse buy, because, let's be honest, who really needs a reason to buy more nail polish!!

a pic from Instagam! Follow me- Chocolattesevofstyle

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already got to see the above collage and even help me decide how I paired the two colors. So please follow me there too, for quicker  updates! What colors of polish are you currently craving or wearing? I'd love to hear from you! :) Have a lovely weekend
