Green With Envy...

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Happy Humpday loves! So I planned to wear this look with a blazer but despite the sun not shining, it was nearly 80 degrees so that was NOT happening! I envy all my fellow style bloggers that can already start layering sweaters and blazers with their looks. Autumn where are you?? I can't wait to be with you once again!
Style Guide: When wearing a multicolored statement necklace, try  wearing shoes & or a clutch that pulls from one of the colors to pull the look together.

Style It Two Ways: Cargo Vest!

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Happy Monday Loves! I hope all of you had lovely weekends. I'm back with the second installment of my "Style It Two Ways" series! Joining me for this post is my blogger girlfriend V-neesa of Simply Chic! She has such a classy and ladylike style that is just what her title is; Chic! I immediately thought of her for this second post and was super happy that she was excited to do it!
Today we are both adding our own twist to a popular and very versatile item that can make the simplest outfit have a a funkier edge. The cargo vest! This piece is perfect for layering and dressing an outfit up or down. You can find both lower and higher end options of this vest and it will easily become a closet staple. I literally wear mine all the time.Challenge yourself to come up with at least 5 different looks wearing it and have fun styling away! How do you wear your cargo vest?

Style Guide: Layer a cargo vest over a printed blouse when wearing a denim or solid skirt to add interest to the entire look. Add a statement necklace for some extra pizzazz!

What I Wore: |  Vest: Old Navy (early spring sale, similar cute option here) | Blouse: F21 | Chambray Skirt: Banana Republic (loving the wash of this one | Bag: Vintage Liz C. | Leopard smoking flats: DSW | Sunnies & Earrings: Vintage find |
Pictured below is a sneak peek of V-neesa's look styling her military vest! I simply adore her skirt :)
Don't forget to head over to Simply Chic to see more of how she styled her vest and tell her I sent you!

Please feel free to email me, or comment below with your suggestions on future clothing pieces, trends, or colors you'd like to see featured on "Style It Two Ways"!

Did any of you watch the Olympics' closing ceremony last night? It was an awesome show and my favorite part was the return of the SPICE GIRLS!! I'm going to miss watching all those amazing athletes compete super late at night lol!
Have a great day!

Banana Polka-Dottie...& Something NEW!!

Friday, August 10, 2012

It's finally Friday! Are you as excited as I am? Lol! I have really been enjoying getting more comfortable with wearing shorts. These "banana shorts", as my boyfriend calls them, are not too long and not too short and I decided to edge up this look with polka dots and leopard! What do you think of this look?

Speaking of looks, does anything on the blog look different to you? :D My boyfriend J has so many talents and web design just happens to be another one of them! He has designed my last two blog themes and has just really taken my blog to another level! He really understood my vision and brought it to life and this look is perfect, will be permanent, and totally fits my personality and the goal of this blog. I am so grateful to have him as such a big supporter and contributor of this blog. He's amazing and I love him so much! If you're in need of a "blog face lift", shoot me an email and I will send you his info to help you jazz up your blog! :)
Style Guide: When wearing a printed top and printed shoes, adding a solid or neutral bottom will give the look some balance so that the prints do not clash.

Happy Humpday Loves! It's Wednesday again, and I'm back with another post! I hope you all had lovely weekends and weeks so far. I did, it was fun and relaxing at the same time! I got to sleep in (for once) and make breakfast for and with J, watch the Olympics & movies, and then go with my him and my sis to a mutual friend's surprise birthday party as well! Today's look is ultra casual and so me! I felt cute and comfy at the same time and that is usually the main goal of all my looks!

Style Guide: When wearing a brightly printed top, like I have on in this post, try wearing nude shoes. Doing this will provide a contrast while giving balance to the overall look.

Autumn Leaves...

Friday, August 3, 2012

Happy Friday my loves! It's almost the weekend :)...I wore this look to dinner yesterday and the print and color of this maxi skirt had me craving my all time favorite season to arrive; Autumn! I can't wait to layer and pair nudes and neutrals with bold colors and all the beauty that comes with this season. So I thought the name of one of my dad's favorite version of the song "Autumn Leaves" by Nat King Cole, was perfectly fitting for the title of this post...plus my skirt has leaves on it! (haha!) Is anyone else as ready for Autumn to arrive as I am?

Style Guide: When wearing a nude or neutral color on the bottom, try adding a bright or neon on top  to jazz up the overall look like I have done in this post. Adding a neutral skinny belt also helps to break up the look. Adding a brightly colored statement necklace doesn't hurt either right? ;o)

Have y'all been watching the Olympics? I've been catching my fave sports, (Tennis, Gymnastics, & Swimming), early in the am and late at night! I am loving some Gabby Douglas! She is strong, beautiful, and loves the Lord! That is so rare and she is becoming a great role model for young girls everywhere. Some of my other faves to watch have been Serena Williams, Federer, & Michael Phelps to name a few! I enjoyed seeing a few minutes of the Nigeria vs USA basketball game as I was born in the US with Nigerian parents. I would have been happy to see either team win :) Don't the Olympics just make you want to hit the gym and workout? lol!

Have an amazing weekend lovelies!!

Polkadots to the Max!!

Wednesday, August 1, 2012

It's Humpday again loves and the first of August! Where has this year gone? I'm back with another outfit post! I wore this new lovely maxi dress out to dinner and drinks with one of my girlfriends on Monday. It is so comfy and light yet appropriate for a fun evening out. If you've been with me for the last few months, you know how deep my love for maxi skirts run but I hadn't found a maxi dress that I absolutely loved. Well that ended the moment I tried this on in the fitting room of Gap while on vacation. This dress is perfection and will easily become a staple in my closet! I kinda wish I wore a belt with this dress, but there's always next time right? ;) What pieces are you loving wearing lately?

Style Guide: When wearing a printed piece like a romper, or maxi dress like I have on in this post, try adding a clutch with a different print. Doing this will give the look some edge and interest.
