Blanketed

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Happy Wednesday Loves! Today I'm reinventing the wheel and styling another one of the ever popular blanket scarves of the season that I've been  hoarding  collecting this year! As you may know there are sooo many ways to style these huge scarves and you can see how I first styled it here. I've been pinning away like crazy for inspiration on how I'd like to style mine here (so make sure and follow me!) And when I saw how my blogger friend Shanna styled hers as a poncho, I was so inspired to try it for myself. I adore the warm fall colors on this scarf and I decided to complement the red and orange tones by wearing a burgundy long sleeved top underneath and cinched my scarf at my waist with a tan skinny belt to give the poncho effect. I wore my favorite camel boots and added my orange Gigi New York clutch to finish off the look.

If you look closely at some of my photos, you can see that it actually began to rain on me (and my hubby while shooting this look...oh the lengths I go to for yall lol!) while we were outside! This exact scarf is no longer available at Zara but I have provided similar options below for you to stay bundled up and as the weather gets colder.

When my friends from Gigi New York let me select a clutch of my choosing, I was over the moon excited! I perused their vast selection of clutches and chose this Uber Python Clutch in clementine! I was amazed by how fast the clutch was shipped to me. The quality of the leather is incredible and the orange is so vibrant and perfect for Fall. I've worn it so many times and have styled in future looks so stay tuned for more! With Christmas right around the corner, a Gigi NewYork bag would be the perfect gift for you or a special lady in your life!!

Hi Loves! How was your weekend? Mine was so much fun! On Saturday night, my Fiance's sister threw a Halloween Costume House Party and we got pretty creative and put together an awesome costume! I plan to do a post on it later this week, so stay tuned! ;)

In today's look I decided to mix rugged and chic by styling my vintage camo jacket cinched in at the waist with brown woven chunky belt, a black pleated midi skirt, and some camel riding boots. I looped some pearls around my neck with a tortoise chain link necklace, and the look was complete! (Plus every item is thrifted except for my jewelry and boots!) Unorthodox looks like these are my favorites...what do you think? Would you wear something similar?

WHAT I WORE:

[ :: Thrifted Camo Jacket, Gap Button Down Shirt, Black Pleated Midi Skirt, Belt, Clutch:: Target Camel Riding Boots :: Forever 21 Pearl Necklace :: VanHeusen Tortoise Chain Link Necklace :: ]

*Feel free to Pin this look if you feel inspired!*

Happy New Year loves! I decided to take a few days off from blogging to relax and refresh myself for the new year and all that comes with it (last year of grad school, wedding planning, etc).  I didn't completely ditch social media, I still posted pictures to my Instagram! So join me there, if you haven't already!

Sooooo, do you notice anything different on my blog? I'll give you a hint...my pictures! I'm so excited to play with my new DSLR that my fiance J gave me for Christmas (as if I didn't already love that man to the moon and back) and share higher quality images with you and maybe some video tutorials on some style questions some of you have asked me! I have wanted this camera for two years and I am so thankful to have it and I have so much to learn, so if any of you have any photography tips, please feel free to flood the comments/my inbox with them!

STYLE GUIDE: Try wearing a statement jacket when your outfit isn't particularly special, it not only keeps you warm when it's freezing but adds a pop of color and interest to your look!

Emerald

Monday, December 10, 2012

Hi my loves! I hope you all had relaxed and wonderful weekends! I did but it rained the whole weekend. In fact, we ran out to take these pics during the one dry hour we had in the last three days! (that's dedication lol) You may or may not have heard that Pantone announced the color of 2013 to be Emerald! I'd originally planned to wear a red blazer with this look, but decided that I had to wear my green one instead. Emerald is such a versatile and vibrant color that can be easily styled in the winter, spring, summer and fall. Since Emerald is a jewel tone, this beautiful color would best complement rich purples, blues, reds, black, (as I did in this look) and golds. The pairings are endless and I for one, can't wait to incorporate this color into future looks. What do you think about Emerald green?

Style Guide: Blazers take the simplest of looks to the another level. So for a pop of color and added interest, try throwing on a funky blazer with your next look!
