Target Denim Style

This post was sponsored by Target.

Happy Monday, loves! I hope each and every one of you had wonderful weekends and are ready
to kick off the week! Today’s post is about one of my favorite items to style and add to my wardrobe. JEANS!! I don’t know about you, but I’ve always had a bit of a struggle finding the perfect fitting jean and have mainly been loyal to a couple of brands. I mean, you know when you find THE jean that you love. It’s all about the fit, and when they hug your body in the right places and lift and flatter, it’s the best feeling. Some of the variables I look for in a fabulous pair of jeans are the wash, fit, and length.

As a tall and curvy woman, it can be kind of daunting finding the fit you are looking for that is flattering.  When I shop for jeans, whether online or in person, I immediately check the length and note if that would work for my height. I also find myself gravitating towards skinny, curvy, or straight styles.

I was delighted to partner with Target and try on a few of their jeans from their denim line for
the last week. I lived in these jeans to really experience each pair, (after work of course) and took a lot of pictures to be able to share my authentic opinion of them in regards to style, fit, and quality. Target’s new and improved denim line is made to fit all sizes and shapes for every woman. They’ve also had their design team completely change their jeans with improved fits and fabric.

I was sent a pair of Skinny, Boyfriend, and Straight jeans. The Skinny  jeans fit me the absolute best. They are mid-rise and fitted through the hip and thigh. It is very figure flattering and stays true to its size after hours of wear. I loved the wash and how it hugged my curves. Skinny jeans fit my personal style and complement most of my tees and even blouses! I wore this pair the most during this trial because of how well they fit me and how many looks I could create from them.

The second pair of jeans I was sent were the Straight. It is mid-rise and fitted through the hip and thigh as well.  I didn’t find the fit the most flattering in the leg but it did fit well in the hips and thighs. It was not as straight as I’m used to because it kind of gapped near the cuff at the bottom, so I folded it a couple of times to give it some shape. The wash was okay as well. I typically prefer darker jean rinses.

My final pair of jeans were the Boyfriend jeans and while I’m not opposed to the style of boyfriend jeans and actually own a few pairs, I did not love the red plaid fabric sewn into the rips of the jeans. I think that design would be best for a younger age demographic. I tried to style it as best as I could but I just didn’t find it flattering to my shape in any aspect.

I enjoy challenges like these because it pushes me to try new styles of clothing, and step out of
the box of my usual styles. I encourage you all to step out of your comfort zones as well and try out Target denim for yourselves. I’m confident you will find a cut that you love! Starting July 26th, you can try on Target denim in the store starting July 26 and receive $10 off!

Summer Style

Happy Friday Loves! I've been gravitating towards the salmon and grey color schemes lately when online shopping and wanted to share some of the items I'm currently drooling over. These white platform wedges (options here) perfectly compliment this striped dress and tote bag for a fun, fresh, summer look! The sunglasses and bangles add interest but do not take away from the palette.

What colors have you been loving this summer?

Hubby's Birthday Style!

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Happy Wednesday my loves! As I’m sure you’ve guessed from the title of this post, today is my sweet Husband’s birthday, so I figured it would be a perfect day to feature his summer style. J At midnight,  I hugged, kissed, and sang loud, goofy birthday songs to him. He does not like me to make a fuss about him but God has blessed my baby with another year of life and I’m excited to share it with him, by his side. Celebrations will continue this evening for my husband who loves me so well, protects and provides for me, makes me laugh, and makes me so excited to explore/life with him! I love him to the moon and back and I can’t wait to see his face once I surprise him this evening through the weekend!

My husband’s style is classic and preppy as you can see here & here in the past few posts, he grudgingly happily agreed to be featured in. So I knew partnering with Daniel Wellington for him to review a watch would be a perfect match for his style. In this look, he is styling the Daniel Wellington Classic Glasgow watch that complements his khakis, white linen shirt, and straw hat. Accessories complete the outfit for men just like with women and he did a great job of including that with his hat, sunglasses, and bracelets. Daniel Wellington offers so many wonderful options for his & hers watches, make sure you visit their website for your next watch purchase!

They were generous enough to provide a special promo code: DWCB for 15% off until August 30!

Hope you guys have had an amazing weekend! I'm currently eating a popsicle, planning my work outfit for tomorrow, and creating a huge to-do list for the week, all while writing this post. I've been really brainstorming with my creative director husband about how we can take this blog to the next level and we've got some super exciting things comping up! So please keep reading, commenting and stay tuned! Love y'all more than ya know!

In the summer I live in looks like these because they are so simple and yet it looks like a huge effort was made. Give me a midi skirt, converse sneakers, a printed tee, and a bright colored crossbody bag and I'm a happy girl!

Cocotique x LottaBody Collaboration!

Friday, July 10, 2015

Happy Friday Loves! I was thrilled to receive this month's COCOTIQUE box to review and share with you guys. COCOTIQUE is a monthly subscription box for women of color and diverse hair types. For the month of July, LottaBody did a "takeover" meaning that every product in the box was provided by them. This box included the following products: Love Me 5-n-1 Miracle Styling CremeControl Me Edge GelMoisturize Me Curl & Style MilkStyle Me Texturizing Setting Lotionand a Styling Comb Set.

I can't wait to try the Style Me Texturizing Setting lotion on a rod set once I remove my protective style in a few weeks!

I enjoyed using LottaBody's Control Me Edge Gel on my baby hairs the last few days on any fly aways or rebellious hairs. It applied clear and flake free and left my edges still feeling soft and not hard and tacky some of other edge control pastes do.

I'm currently wearing a protective style in my hair but I've actually used the Lottabody Moisturize Curl & Style Milk in the past and I had a beautiful twistout as a result of it! I look forward to using the Love Me 5-in-1 Miracle Styling Creme once I remove my protective style.

The COCOTIQUE July box will continue to be on sale for $20 + shipping throughout the month of July in the COCOTIQUE online shop here!

They were also generous enough to provide each of my readers with a special promo code: LOTTA25 to get 25% off your  purchase of the July COCOTIQUE Box between July 2nd - Friday July 31st, 2015!
Have you used any of these products in your hair before? What was your experience using them? Please share below and have a great weekend!
