Love Your Curls With Dove Part 2!

Hi, loves! Some of you may not know, but I have not always worn my hair curly. I wore my hair relaxed (straightened) from elementary school til a couple of years after college when I decided to stop getting my hair chemically straightened and transitioned to wearing my God-given natural hair. It was tricky at first; I was not confident with how to style or rock my own curls so I considered relaxing it a few times. Flash forward to five years later: I really can't imagine trying to permanently alter my curls ever again! I'm still not fully comfortable with the idea of flat ironing my hair temporarily! I am in love with the KINKS, CURLS, and SPIRALS God has blessed me with! I love that I can manipulate my natural hair into a fro, wear a twist out, blow it out to stretch it into longer looks, and wear protective styles like braids, twists, and curls like I have pictured.

The sad reality is that, like I used to, many women and little girls do not love or feel confident wearing their hair naturally curly. In fact, only 4 in 10 little girls with curly hair think their hair is beautiful and only 10% of women in the U.S. with curly hair feel proud of their hair.Society (magazines, tv, social media) tends to portray straighter textures of hair as more beautiful. It took me almost 25 years to fall in love with my hair and learn what products worked best for my hair and allow it to grow healthily.

This is why the message behind the Dove Hair Love Your Curls campaign is so near and dear to me. Dove Hair launched this specific campaign to encourage women to celebrate their curls and inspire future generations to do the same. Girls are more likely to feel beautiful and proud of their natural hair if people around them do. I always make sure I tell my little sisters and cousins how beautiful their curls are and I hope they can see my hair and other examples of women proudly wearing their curly hair and get a glimpse of what they'd look like when they grow up.

Leopard Turtleneck + Long Vest

Monday, November 23, 2015

I've been coveting a long line vest pretty much all fall and I couldn't think of a more fabulous way to style it then with jeans and a fun turtleneck. I'm really enjoying the comeback that turtlenecks are making in the fashion scene this season and I plan to add a few more to my wardrobe. My orange clutch and camel ankle boots were the perfect pieces to complete this look.

Love Your Curls With Dove!

This post is sponsored by Dove Hair.

Hi, loves! Dove Hair launched this specific campaign to encourage women of all ethnicities to celebrate their natural curls and inspire future generations to do the same. Girls are more likely to feel beautiful and proud of their natural hair if people around them do. I always make sure I tell my sisters, friends, and young, impressionable cousins how beautiful their curls are, and I hope they can see my hair and other examples of women proudly wearing their curly hair and get a glimpse of what they'll look like when they grow up.

The Dove Quench Absolute formulas are infused with protein, nutrients, and buriti oil and provide a nourished, smooth finish. To achieve four times more defined, natural curls, try these Dove Quench Absolute products as a system:

Absolute Ultra Nourishing Shampoo: cleansed my hair and scalp but did not leave it stripped of its moisture.
Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Conditioner: softened and moisturized my hair. I chose to leave it under a shower cap for an extended period.
Dove Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask: left my hair feeling silky and full of moisture.
Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crรจme Serum: helped reduce frizz on my hair during the week, and improved manageability and shine.

Have any of you tried any of these products in the Dove Quench Absolute hair line? If so, tell me your favorite!

Dove Hair encourages all women and girls to love their curls. Download the Dove Love Your Curls Emoji for free in the App Store and Google Play, and show us how you #LoveYourCurls to help inspire the next generation. The Dove Love Your Curls Emojis will be available for FREE download in the App Store and Google Play on NOVEMBER 4, 2015. Standard data rates apply.

Retro Flare

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Happy Wednesday loves! Tell me how your weekends were in the comments, I miss chatting with all of you! As some of you may know from following me on my Instagram, that my birthday was Sunday! My husband surprised me and took me away to Cincinnati for the weekend and we had such an incredible time together. It was a blessing to spend quality time together, exploring the city, shopping, and relaxing. I'm so thankful for God allowing me to see another year and for a husband, family, and friends that took the time out to make me feel like a Queen on my birthday!

Now, onto this outfit that makes me feel like I'm straight out of a 70's jeans ad! I am in love with the retro vibe my flare jeans added to my oversized chunky knit turtleneck sweater and heeled oxfords. My mom would be proud! ;o) I can't wait to style these jeans this winter.

Striped Skater Dress

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

Happy humpday loves! I can't even believe that my birthday is this Sunday! Looking forward to traveling with my husband to Cincinnati this weekend to celebrate and reflect and relax. Last year, my husband and sister threw a surprise birthday party for me and I wrote about it here, and it was a night to remember but this year was a complete roller-coaster of good and bad, so I just want to have a quiet celebration.

I can't believe I haven't been wearing this skater dress from GAP more often. It's the perfect silhouette, that I'm always on the lookout for because of it's cinched waist and flared out skirt and flattering to all shapes. I added tights and my black booties to combat the cold weather and kept my accessories minimal with an added leopard clutch for a fun pop! This look would be perfect for a date night, work, or to church.

Coffee In The Morning

Monday, November 9, 2015

Hi Loves! Did you all enjoy your weekend? We spent ours relaxing together and spending quality time together. Sometimes that can be the best remedy after a long hectic week. Tomorrow, my husband is taking me to see one of our FAVORITE artists, MIGUEL!! Our first dance at our wedding was to his song, "Adorn" and  both have him on our bucket list of artists we must see and I'm so excited that we finally get to go.

There's just something about the turning of leaves, and crisp weather that makes you want to slide into your favorite pair of jeans and a cozy scarf! Enter, DL1961 a denim brand that I'm thrilled to be partnering with in today's look. I'm wearing the Farrow Instaslim (smart denim that instantly slims your legs, midsection, and waist), I mean who doesn't want jeans that make you look even more fabulous than you already are? I love the fact that it's a higher rise skinny jean and not one that I have to adjust every time I sit or stand up. I kept the look neutral with my nude ankle boots and tote bag, a striped top and a chunky plaid blanket scarf for some fun texture and color.
