Favorite Looks of 2014 [Part 2]

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Happy New Year's Eve loves! As promised, I've rounded up the rest of my favorite looks of 2014 here for you! I'm very proud of the way my style has evolved this year and I'm excited for what I have up my sleeve for next year!
In 2015: I no longer want to blog alone, I want to attend conferences, learn more about photography, writing, initiate more collaborations with other bloggers, and meet some of you fabulous souls! I don't want to beat myself up over numbers or compare myself to others, I know we all do it. But comparison really is the thief of Joy. I'm excited about my new lens my Hubby got me for Christmas (seen here),  (so expect more crisp vibrant photos), along with my new remote so I plan to be a big girl, pack up my tripod, and go out and shoot when the lighting is right and in some fun new backdrops/backgrounds!

Thank each and every one of you new and old to this blog, for sticking with me through so many amazing life changing moments: my bridal shower, our wedding, our honeymoon to Riviera Maya, Mexico, our vacation to LA, my 30th birthday, and the holidays! I'll also be sharing my Favorite Moments of 2014 post on Monday and after that I have some fabulous NEW content coming your way, so please stay tuned!

Come join in on all the fun!

Full Look from far left to bottom right: /1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 //

Hi Loves! I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas with your family and friends. I sure did! :) My first Christmas as a wife to my husband was wonderful and I enjoyed spending time with my new extended family. Every year around this time, I like to reflect on my accomplishments, achievements, and mistakes during the past year. The same goes for my blog. It has become so important to me, to have this little corner of the internet to express myself creatively, communicate with all of you, share my style and grow as a writer and a woman. As I looked back on my past looks this year, I began to feel pride in the body of work I produced, how I'm developing my voice and tone as a writer, and how I've styled looks that I'd gladly wear again and again.
Full Look from far left to bottom right: // 1// 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 //

So these are my favorite looks from the first half of 2014. Which look is your favorite? I'll share my favorites from the last half of 2014 Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Merry Christmas + Brown Family Christmas Card!

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Happy Christmas Eve loves! Since we can't mail our Christmas cards to each and every one of you, I wanted to share it here! :) We decided two weeks ago to shoot spur of the moment Christmas photos to turn into cards, and send out a few to our families and close friends. My sister was a good sport and came over and shot these cute family photos of us, on our front porch. I just love how they turned out and my husband designed these beautiful Christmas cards. I'm thinking this will be a tradition for us now. We had so much fun and Polo even managed to stay still lol. I can't wait to take a much needed break to celebrate our first official Christmas Eve and day together as a married couple. We will also be visiting with my in-loves so this will be my last post this week. I hope you all enjoy celebrating the birth of Jesus with your families and loved ones and take the time to savor each moment spent with them!!

We hope all of you have a blessed and Merry Christmas!

Nissan Altima: You Can Have It All

Hi Loves! With Christmas and the beginning of 2015 right around the corner, you may be completely frazzled from tremendous amounts of gift shopping, holiday parties, and the stress of striving for perfection. You may be in need of motivation or inspiration on how to attain the goals you've set for yourself for the upcoming year. There is something about this time of year that has everyone ready to turn a new page in their lives and become better people in the new year. As women, most of us are looking to purge our closets, make New Year resolutions to become more organized, enhance their style, and attain that treasured feeling of fulfillment, basically having it all. As a style blogger, nothing inspires me more than seeing women that Have It All. And by that I mean, a woman who is not only successful professionally but personally, organized, kind, compassionate, creative, a great friend, and last but not least, stylish!

I am blessed to be surrounded by so many inspiring women in my personal life. So I was delighted to hear about Nissan and Glam collaborating in an effort to empower women with their Haute Haven's campaign.

In this neat video featuring Cathy Hobbs, I found even more inspiration as an African American woman to go out and get what I want and achieve my dreams. As a newlywed for the last six months and three weeks (but who's counting? haha), I've been in nesting mode in our new home. I have enjoyed picking out decor for each room and space of our home and picking out color schemes to complement my husband's and my style. I find myself perusing so many interior decorating websites, magazines, and TV programs. Here is a peek at our living room.

So after watching this video I am even more inspired to design a comfortable yet stylish home for my husband and I.  And anyone who knows me knows how much I love cars so when I saw the Nissan Altima in the video I just lit up.  My husband actually owns a Nissan Altima so I know personally how stylish, smooth, and comfortable it is to ride in and to drive.

With its stylish looks and premium interior, the Nissan Altima is just as much as an individual as you are. Not fitting into one mold is what makes the Nissan Altima not only unique, but very exciting!

Thanks to Nissan for sponsoring this post via Mode Media.  The opinions expressed herein are 100% my own and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Nissan.

What did you think about this video? Who are some women that inspire you to have it all? What are you doing to become an inspiration to others to have it all? You never know who’s watching or looking up to you!

Take Two: the Best Sports for Couples

Having a fitness buddy is one of the most effective forms of motivation, and some studies even indicate that working out with your squeeze can make you a happier, more harmonious couple. You’ll learn to work together better as a team, provide much-needed encouragement to achieve goals, and lead a lifestyle that will help you look toned, trim and energetic. So what are the best sports for you to pursue these benefits together?
Tennis
Get all fired up on center court with a heated game of fast and furious tennis. With all the running around, you’ll soon feel fighting fit. Be warned: if you’re at all competitive, it’s best not to play against each other. Instead, play doubles with friends to strengthen your bond as a team, both on and off the tennis court.
Running
It’s so much easier to hit the tarmac on a dreary day if you have someone by your side, and safer than stuffing your headphones in your ears and going it alone, especially on dark winter mornings. Setting a goal together and working towards it is a good bonding exercise for couples, whether it’s running continuously for ten minutes, or completing a half marathon.
Hiking
What’s more romantic than heading on a hike to the hills with your sweetheart and a decent pair of walking shorts? Hiking into the wilderness for the weekend allows you to reconnect with each other at a remove from the distractions of the Internet, TV and work. Navigate to a quiet spot, and enjoy a lakeside view as you munch on picnic food. Challenge each other to go further, and walk for longer, then, light a bonfire at night and snuggle up under the stars to roast some marshmallows before retiring to your romantic cabin.
Dancing
You just have to tune in to a show like Dancing with the Stars to see the benefits of taking up the tango with your partner. Fox-trots and cha-cha-chas can boost your circulation and rapidly tone you up. Take dancing lessons together to meet other couples and slicken your quickstep, or just stay at home and play a dancing game on your games console. You might be giggling when you see each other flailing around trying to match the moves on screen, but you’ll burn up to 300 calories an hour!
Taking time out to get fit together can make you happier and healthier. Just try not to be too competitive. You don’t want a falling out!

The Case of the Long Cardigan

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Hi Loves! Do you ever have a piece that almost has to work hard to win you over? For instance, I picked out this long cardigan with a gift card my sister gave me for my birthday and almost returned it twice! But each time I just couldn't leave it behind and I'm so glad I kept it. I'm embarrassed to even think of how many times and how many ways I've styled this cozy flowy soft cardigan and how many ways I plan to. I wore it to my in-laws with a long sleeved striped sweater, dark rinse skinny jeans, and riding boots. In this look, I decided to style it with lighter blue skinny jeans, my newly favorite ankle boots, an olive infinity scarf and white cami. On a rarely sunny day, the color scheme really popped!

1. You and your bestie can sip hot cocoa or tea in style with these mugs!

2. Every girl needs a pair of headphones, like this Frends Taylor Rose Rose Gold pair! They provide high quality sound with style! (i have these and they are amazing!)

3. If your bestie doesn't love scarves already, she will love this plaid Zappos scarf! She can be chic while staying warm and cozy.

4. Share some sparkle with your bestie with this Deborah Lippman nail polish!

5. As you know leopard is the new black so these Barlow booties are sure to get some mileage over the holidays for casual Christmas parties, date nights, and more!

6. If your bestie is anything like me, she loves a vibrant lip color! There's no better time to sport a red lip than right now during the holidays! She is sure to love this Nars Audacious lippy!

7. What girl doesn't love a richly scented candle? This Kate Spade New York Light Up The Room  Candle has a yummy soft fig scent to mention the gold polka dot design!

Salmon + A Shade of Gray

Monday, December 15, 2014

Happy Monday Loves! Today's post features my new favorite color combo : gray and salmon/blush! The two of these colors may sometimes seem more likely to be worn in spring but when worn like I have in this look with dark jeans, it's transformed to a winter appropriate look! I added touches of camel via my belt, purse, and ankle boots and the look was complete! Are you loving faux fur vests this winter too?

Moto 360 Watch: Chic + Sleek

Friday, December 12, 2014

Hi my loves! So, anyone who knows me, knows I love watches. I have since I learned to tell time. When I was a teenager and I performed well on my report card, my parents would reward me with a gift of my choice and I always chose a watch. I think there is something so classic and functional about wearing a watch. Yes we can all check our smart phones or tablets for the time and other updates, but I almost always wear a watch for time. Could you imagine a beautiful marriage of both technology and a stylish watch?…

Well Motorola sure did with their new Moto 360 watch! So I was thrilled to team up with Motorola to try out the Moto 360! This watch is not only sleek but fashionable. The design and craftsmanship of this watch stays true to the timeless design of the classic wristwatch. I selected the black leather watch because I wanted a chic watch that I could wear everyday for any occasion. The band fits comfortably on my tiny wrist and with a large round screen it allowed me to be able to view the information such as notifications for text messages, social media alerts, email, etc that I need to see.

As a style blogger, I’m constantly on social media, responding to and engaging with my readers, so I loved the fact that I could access popular apps like Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Eat 24,etc! Another amazing feature of the Moto 360 is Voice Control, when my hands were full of shopping bags one day, I asked Google for directions to another store and even got weather updates..I mean, this watch is genius! There is even a Health Tracker that can track your distance covered, steps taken, heart rate and activity while you’re working out. This watch is absolutely a watch for our times, as it meets the many needs and real life demands of a modern woman in 2014. The classic watch can only tell time and sometimes provide the date, while this new Moto 360 watch is stylish and fun and I love that it can provide me information on the go. It has been an amazing additive to my life and I’m sure you’ll love it too when you grab one for yourself or a loved one to truly wear a watch again. (Learn more about the Mot0 360 here!)

Olive Oyl

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Do you ever put on that one piece from your closet and immediately feel wonderful, powerful, confident and like a brand new woman?? Well that's what this poncho did for me! I'd just taken my twists down and had the fro out to play as seen here and the whole look just clicked. I decided to wear my striped sweatshirt under my poncho to add texture and interest to the look. My camel riding boots were a no-brainer because it not only complemented the olive green color of my poncho but also elongated my legs.

I have been loving this clutch since Gigi New York sent it to me and I styled it here! This company has impeccable customer service and they offer such a wide range of quality purses and clutches and for the monogram lovers (like me!) you can personalize the bags to your liking. This vibrant orange python embossed clutch immediately caught my eye and I was in love
